In this episode, we test drive the all new Mitsubishi Outlander. With recent news of the brand’s pure focus on sport-utility vehicles, the Outlander will continue to be their biggest SUV at least in their North American line-up. Recognizing the higher profits to be made in the lucrative SUV market, Mitsubishi will be introducing an all-new Eclipse SUV and an Outlander plug-in hybrid next year.
Our test model was equipped with Mitsubishi’s All-Wheel Control system. Horsepower and torque on our 2.4-liter 4-cylinder is rated at 166hp and 162 lb-ft respectively. The Outlander is also offered with a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine that generates 224 horsepower and 215 lb-ft of torque. Our real-world fuel range as-tested is 647km on a tank of gas and we achieved an average fuel economy of 9.3L/100km (as shown). Watch the video below for the complete review.
After using up almost a full tank of gas, we were able to fill it back up for $53.02 for 52.5 liters of fuel at a fuel cost of $1.009/liter. At that fuel price, it would cost $60.54 to fill the Outlander’s 60-liter fuel tank.
